Literature Text

This is something I wrote a while ago for an English class. Just thought I'd put it up.

This soliloquy is from Haymitch, a character in the Hunger Games, point of view.  I have taken a moment right before Peete and Katniss enter the arena, when Haymitch is drunk, as he often is.  He is making the decision on whether to put effort in to saving Peeta or Katness. Please review!

"Every year. Every single year.
They die, such horrible, heartless ways.
So young, they die, but not this year.
Not this one. She can make it.
Poor boy, poor poor boy.
So nice, so pleasant,
But that's not what it takes.
She has it, the spunk.
She has the will and desire.
I won't have to watch this year,
No, not this year.
She is strong, so strong, in her mind;
With so much rage.
She can do it, not him, but he can help;
He understands.
She can do it.
She must do it, to make us free;
To give us something to fight for.
This soliloquy is from Haymitch, a character in the Hunger Games, point of view. I have taken a moment right before Peete and Katniss enter the arena, when Haymitch is drunk, as he often is. He is making the decision on whether to put effort in to saving Peeta or Katness. I do not own the Hunger Game.
